Lead Data Scientist

Overview

Lead complex data science projects from problem definition through implementation and evaluation, combining statistical analysis, machine learning and hands-on Python development. Partner with technical and business stakeholders, influence decisions and mentor junior data scientists.

What you'll do

• Lead data science projects from problem definition through evaluation.
• Define statistical, mathematical and machine learning approaches for complex problems.
• Lead data exploration, cleaning, transformation and feature engineering.
• Design, optimise and monitor validated machine learning models.
• Develop maintainable, production-ready Python code.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior data scientists and evaluate relevant research and methodologies.

What you'll need

• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field, or a bachelor’s degree with significant equivalent experience.
• Significant experience delivering data science projects through implementation and evaluation.
• Deep knowledge of statistics and mathematics.
• Strong machine learning, data-wrangling and data-cleaning skills.
• Proficiency in Python, machine learning frameworks and statistical analysis.
• Experience developing scalable solutions using GCP or comparable cloud platforms.
• Experience communicating recommendations and mentoring or technically guiding data scientists.
