Overview
Lead Developers act as the primary point of contact for clients, bringing a strategic and tactical mindset to software consulting and delivery. The role guides and coaches teams while remaining hands-on with coding and helping bring technical visions to life.
What you'll do
- Champion and adopt best practices such as writing clean and reusable code using TDD, pair programming and design patterns.
- Oversee or take part in the entire cycle of software consulting and delivery from ideation to evolution in production and everything in between.
- Use and advocate for continuous delivery practices to deliver high-quality software and value to end customers as early as possible.
- Design solutions and choose technologies that solve clients’ problems while working within constraints and making pragmatic tradeoffs.
- Collaborate with teammates to build features, design concepts and interactive prototypes, and ensure best practices and UX specifications are embedded along the way.
- Apply the latest technology thinking from the Technology Radar to solve client problems.
- Apply a variety of languages and tools while continuing to code alongside Developers; remain hands-on in the role.
- Efficiently utilize and champion DevSecOps tools and practices to build and deploy software, advocate devops culture and shift security left in development.
- Cultivate Thoughtworker growth and development by encouraging feedback and fostering an inclusive, supportive team culture.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, collaborate and negotiate with them, and bring technical visions to life.
- Guide and coach teams in their implementation and application.
What you'll need
- Be well-versed with Java, React and AI skills.
- Have led software development teams using Agile, Lean and/or Continuous.
- Have knowledge of delivery approaches such as TDD, continuous integration, pairing and infrastructure automation.
- Have experience influencing others and advocating for technical excellence while being open to change when needed.
- Bridge product and technology by helping to translate business needs to software requirements.
- Have the ability to develop and execute a technical vision with a focus on business value.
- Act as a mentor for less experienced peers through technical knowledge and the ability to inspire a team to deliver extraordinary impact together.
- Be resilient in ambiguous situations and approach challenges from multiple perspectives.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of cloud technology such as AWS, Docker or Kubernetes.
- Enjoy continuously learning and improving through functional programming paradigms, event driven architecture, platform engineering or others.
Details
- Location: Bangalore, India.
- You may be expected to work out of the Thoughtworks office or at the client's office location for all five working days of the week, depending on business or clients’ needs.
