Lead Engineer, Customer Order Engineering - Automation & Control

Overview

Lead Control Software Engineer responsible for application software development, testing and site commissioning support for turbomachinery equipment (gas turbine, steam turbine, electric motor driven compressor) on assigned projects.

What you'll do

• Develop and test application software for gas turbines and steam turbines for mechanical drive (compressor) and generator drive applications.
• Design and execute test cases, including functional, regression, performance and reliability testing in industrial automation, and track defects.
• Perform system-level testing of PLC and control systems, and design and execute test cases for hardware-software integration.
• Interpret P&IDs and implement all control loops and schemes.
• Develop low fidelity simulations to test operative sequences.
• Translate requirements and specifications into control logic and software, and deliver projects within required timelines and quality standards.
• Work with internal stakeholders and customers to close unit control panel FAT/SAT for projects.
• Work with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver projects in full compliance with requirements.
• Provide site support for successful commissioning of machines within SLA boundaries.
• Verify I/O signals, logic, cause-and-effect, loop checks and interlock testing.
• Review and validate control philosophy, functional design specifications and logic diagrams.

What you'll need

• BE/BTech in Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical, or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing application software/control logic for gas turbine or steam turbine unit control systems.
• Hands-on experience in one or more control systems: GE Spectronic (Mark Vie), Siemens S7, Triconex, Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc (RX3i, RX7i), Woodward, CCC.
• Hands-on experience in one or more SCADA packages: Simplicity or WinCC.
• Exposure to acceptance test procedures (FAT/SAT) involving major Oil & Gas customers and EPC organizations.
• Proficiency in testing techniques: test case design, execution, defect tracking, functional, regression, performance and reliability testing in industrial automation.
• Experience with system-level testing of PLC and control systems.
• Strong understanding of PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
• Sound knowledge of gas turbine power plants, combined cycle/simple cycle power plants, oil & gas facilities and petrochemical plants.
• Be an excellent team player able to resolve difficult situations that arise during project execution.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies adapted to engineering projects.
• Advanced coursework or certifications in Industrial Automation, PLC Programming, or SCADA systems.
