Overview
Lead the mechanical design, development, validation, and productization of next-generation critical power and energy storage products for data centers and other mission-critical applications, providing mechanical technical leadership and design ownership from concept through production launch.
What you'll do
- Lead the mechanical architecture, design, development, validation, and launch of critical power and data-center infrastructure products.
- Translate system and customer requirements into mechanical requirements, architecture, specifications, and detailed designs.
- Drive product packaging and system layout while balancing thermal performance, structural integrity, electrical clearances, manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and cost.
- Lead mechanical development of sheet-metal enclosures, structural frames, busbar integration, battery packaging, cooling systems, wiring/harness routing, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Perform and guide 3D CAD design, engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, structural and thermal analysis, prototyping, and product testing.
- Serve as the mechanical technical lead/design authority, leading design reviews and driving technical trade-off decisions across mechanical, electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and reliability domains.
- Apply DFMEA and DFx methodologies, including design for manufacturing, assembly, serviceability, reliability, cost, and testability.
- Lead mechanical design activities through prototype/EVT, DVT, certification, production readiness, and product launch.
- Support verification and validation, reliability testing, failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and corrective actions.
- Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams on design feasibility, tooling, prototype development, cost optimization, and manufacturing readiness.
- Support product compliance and certification activities, including applicable IEC/UL and global safety requirements.
- Drive design-to-cost, modularization, standardization, platform reuse, and value-engineering initiatives.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to mechanical engineers and designers and strengthen engineering best practices and design standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, simulation methods, design reviews, documentation, and test methodologies.
