Lead Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist

Overview

Lead the execution of turbogenerator outages across own and other OEM fleets, acting as site lead and technical lead while owning the customer relationship and resolving customer issues within the outage schedule.

What you'll do

• Act as Site Lead / Technical Lead for assigned turbogenerator outages, handling all technical and safety matters related to outage execution.
• Own the customer relationship during outage duration and drive customer issue resolution within the outage schedule.
• Work across rotor repair and stator repair work on GE and other OEM fleets.
• Carry out hands-on overhauling of complete generators on GE and other OEM fleets.
• Coordinate across Engineering, Sourcing, Project Management, Safety and Quality to achieve outage execution KPIs and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure adherence to company standards, laws and regulations during outage execution.
• Interact with vendors and customers for planning and execution of outages.
• Analyse problems encountered or identified by thermal power utilities and provide technical solutions in consultation with Engineering.
• Support and create method statements, field procedures, standards and project-specific technical documentation for identified OEM generator fleets.
• Maintain rigor on site DMS to achieve field service outage milestones.
• Ensure consistent application of business tools and processes applicable to the scope of outages.
• Follow Field Service Management processes for generator core services and repair outages.
• Use technical experience for data analysis to support recommendations, collaborating with internal and cross-functional resources to reach conclusions.
• Capture, report and implement outage best practices.
• Drive lessons learned and technical close-out with tangible outcomes and deliverables.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
• Significant experience in the outage execution of large turbogenerators, preferably on 100 MW and above.
• At least 7+ years of on-site field experience in executing turbogenerator outages at various sites and customers.
• Excellent communication skills when interacting with internal and external customers for outage execution.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Sound fundamentals and knowledge of turbogenerator technologies with operational aspects of various fleets.
• Rich service exposure to turbogenerator outage execution, mainly on turbogenerators of 50 MW and above.
• Sound exposure to constructional features for successful outage execution and key deliverables.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
• Sound understanding of time and cost control for site activities of turbogenerator overhaul within assigned time and cost estimates.
• Exposure to and knowledge of scheduling packages such as MS Project.
• Analytical skills to troubleshoot operational problems of turbogenerators.
• Exposure to the outage execution process, including outage planning, site mobilization, job execution with designated vendors, outage closure, and outage feedback and lessons learnt.
• Experience on generator rotor and stator rewinding.
• Good observational and analytical skills.
• Sense of urgency; able to quickly organize and spearhead external vendors as a team to achieve the desired outcome.
• Systematic approach to understanding problems, learning solutions, and training others.
• Ability to get along with colleagues, vendors and customers.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

• Mobility requirement: operate from home or desired location under the work-from-remote policy for GE Vernova TFAs.
• Extensive travel to thermal power stations, mainly in India, for outage execution.
