Lead Full Stack Engineer

Overview

Lead the design, development and delivery of complex enterprise-scale full-stack applications across front-end, back-end, integration and data layers. Drive technical excellence, secure and scalable solutions, Agile delivery, stakeholder alignment and engineering capability development.

What you'll do

• Lead the design and development of complex, enterprise-scale applications across front-end, back-end, integration and data layers.
• Define and promote engineering standards, coding practices and architectural principles.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Technical Leads to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and maintainable.
• Drive technical decision-making and provide leadership on technology selection and implementation approaches.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and support software solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Lead development of APIs, microservices, event-driven solutions and cloud-native applications.
• Ensure operational stability through observability, monitoring, performance tuning and production support.
• Participate in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support predictable delivery through effective estimation, planning and execution.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in software quality, security and delivery efficiency.
• Promote engineering metrics and data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, risk, compliance and security standards.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and technical requirements.
• Communicate technical solutions and delivery risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to governance forums and technical design reviews.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical coaching across product teams.
• Promote innovation, accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
• Support development of engineering capabilities and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Manage and mitigate risks, strengthen controls and advise functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.

What you'll need

• Extensive experience in Full Stack Software Engineering within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong experience in back-end development using Java, Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including Oracle and Mongo.
• Experience with DevSecOps tools and technologies, including PaaS Openshift / K8S, GitLab, JIRA, SonarQube, Prisma and Wiz, and Maven or Gradle.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing and software quality engineering.
• Experience with event-streaming technologies such as Kafka and Message Queues.
• Experience of Rapid Application Development using AI models like Claude and GitLab Duo.
• Computer Science degree or equivalent understanding of Computer Science, Object Oriented Design and Data Structures.
• Ability to demonstrate risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.

Nice to have

• Experience within Corporate Banking or Payments technology environments.
• Experience with distributed systems, high-volume transaction processing and real-time integration platforms.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
