Overview
Lead MySQL Database Engineer (MySQL Lead DBA) responsible for performance, high availability, security, and operational excellence for MySQL clusters and single instances.
What you'll do
- Ensure MySQL database performance, high availability, and security for clusters and single instances.
- Orchestrate upgrades, backups, HA/DR, and provisioning of database instances.
- Design and deploy uniform backup strategies and business continuity plans across MySQL environments.
- Set up and maintain high availability replication (Master-Master/ Master-slave).
- Maintain stable performance through server optimizations and SQL tuning.
- Secure and maintain compliance via OS and database version upgrades.
- Support incident/change processes, documentation, and peer review for production tasks.
What you'll need
- Minimum 8 years of experience managing MySQL.
- Experience with MySQL active/active cluster setup, database upgrades, migrations, and scripting.
- Experience administering MySQL on Linux.
- Experience performing MySQL version upgrades in production with zero or very minimum downtime.
- Experience architecting MySQL environments using Galera Cluster or Percona XtraDB.
- Experience deploying monitoring using at least one of PMM, New Relic, Datadog, Nagios, Grafana, ELK, or AppD.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Nice to have
- Experience working with PCI standards.
- Deep experience with SQL (stored procedures, functions, triggers, batch jobs) and reporting/analytics.
- Experience managing PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and/or Oracle.
- Experience with NoSQL and data engineering technologies (e.g., Kafka, Redis, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Redshift, ETL).
- Experience with data analytics and Business intelligence.
