Overview
Lead the architecture, design, validation, and commercialization of advanced WLAN PHY solutions across pre-silicon and post-silicon development phases. Work with RF, MAC, Firmware, and Hardware teams to deliver wireless technologies from concept to market.
What you'll do
- Serve as a technical expert within the WLAN Systems team, leading the design, development, and commercialization of advanced WLAN PHY solutions.
- Drive system architecture, design enhancements, and implementation of key PHY design blocks across multiple projects.
- Provide technical recommendations and proposals to support strategic technology and product decisions.
- Lead cross-functional teams in translating system requirements into robust PHY implementations and RTL deliverables.
- Identify post-silicon bring-up issues and drive PHY-layer design improvements based on silicon learnings.
- Collaborate with RF and Analog teams to define RF specifications and develop accurate system-level simulation models.
- Work with MAC, Firmware, Hardware, and RF teams to define, document, and validate PHY interfaces.
- Drive improvements in workflows, methodologies, and design processes to enhance productivity and quality.
- Support silicon bring-up, validation, and characterization activities to verify design updates and enhancements.
- Analyze and resolve complex cross-layer issues involving WLAN PHY, MAC, RF, Firmware, and board-level systems.
- Identify design and process gaps, propose corrective actions, and ensure adherence to established design methodologies.
- Mentor and train team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- Create technical documentation, design collateral, training material, and customer-facing content as required.
- Partner with stakeholders across global teams to ensure successful project execution and product delivery.
What you'll need
- Proven experience leading wireless systems or design teams and successfully delivering products from concept to commercial deployment.
- A strong foundation in Communication Theory, Signal Processing, and Wireless Communication Systems.
- Deep understanding of PHY-layer design and algorithms, including carrier detection, timing and frequency synchronization, AGC, filters, demodulators, tracking loops, decoders, and implementation in wireless and wireline modem systems.
- In-depth knowledge of RF architectures, RF impairments, and their impact on overall system performance.
- Hands-on experience in post-silicon chip bring-up, validation, and debugging.
- Proficiency in using spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and lab automation tools.
- Expert-level proficiency in MATLAB and C programming, including fixed-point model development and validation.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using C, GDB, crash analysis, and stack trace debugging techniques.
- Good understanding of wireless communication standards, including IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, and 3GPP specifications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within large, global, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across projects.
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of C++, Python, Tcl, SystemC, and High-Level Synthesis (HLS) tools.
