Lead QA Engineer

Overview

Lead the QA function for Content & Feeds Technology at LSEG Bengaluru, owning test strategy, automation and end-to-end integration testing within a scrum team and potentially across several teams.

What you'll do

• Lead all aspects of technical implementation of quality control, testing and analysis, providing guidance where issues arise.
• Set project testing strategy and test plan, covering test environment, automation, performance, test data management and testing tools.
• Review and approve test plans and scripts to ensure alignment with standards and technology strategy.
• Lead functional and non-functional testing and end-to-end integration testing.
• Set clear automation goals and drive automation implementation.
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect and BA on non-functional requirements and set the performance testing plan.
• Follow best practices, QA methodologies and processes across critical stages of the product lifecycle from define to build.
• Understand business use cases and carry out testing to ensure top quality of delivered solutions.
• Understand and analyse requirement specifications and design test scenarios.
• Review and analyse completeness of test coverage.
• Carry out functional and non-functional testing.
• Solve technical issues and challenges in testing work.
• Implement test scripts, defect tracking in the applicable tool, status reporting and defect reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement from a quality perspective.
• Communicate the status of ongoing work to stakeholders accurately.
• Provide mentoring to junior staff (Associate Engineer, Engineer and Senior Engineer) as needed.

What you'll need

• 9+ years' experience in a Software QA or Development Engineer role.
• Proven ability to drive and implement test strategies and test plans, including automation, performance, E2E integration and test environments.
• In-depth knowledge of software QA methodologies and experience of agile testing.
• Strong background in test automation.
• Strong understanding of QA principles, Shift-Left testing and risk-based testing approaches.
• Proven track record leading QA activities within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Ability to define and execute end-to-end test strategies covering functional, integration, system and regression testing.
• Expertise in requirement analysis, test planning, defect prevention and quality governance.
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java with solid understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns.
• Experience building, enhancing and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Ability to automate data validation, API testing and ETL testing workflows using Python.
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
• Expertise in verifying data accuracy, completeness, consistency and integrity across multiple systems.
• Ability to analyse large datasets and identify data anomalies, gaps and performance bottlenecks.
• Hands-on experience validating data in Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake or other enterprise databases.
• Experience validating integrations across enterprise applications, ETL platforms and data services.
• Expert in defect management, test execution and reporting using Jira.
• Experience documenting QA processes, automation frameworks and test strategies using Confluence.
• Proficient in test case management and test metrics reporting using TestRail or equivalent tools.
• Skilled in root cause analysis, defect triage and quality metrics tracking.
• Strong understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies and pull request reviews.
• Experience integrating test automation into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of testing applications and data platforms hosted on Azure.
• Openness to adopting AI-driven development practices to enhance productivity and delivery excellence.
• Experience leveraging Microsoft Copilot for test case design, test data creation and requirement analysis.
• Proficient in using Copilot to accelerate Python automation, SQL query development and ETL/data validation testing.
• Ability to integrate AI-powered testing practices to improve productivity, test coverage and overall quality outcomes.
