Sr. Staff Architect, Software Test

Overview

Strategic technical leader role focused on process innovation, product development, AI integration and platform engineering, leading quality and testing strategy for complex scientific instrument and application software products.

What you'll do

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise automation frameworks using Python and Playwright.
• Build automated UI, API, functional, regression, integration and end-to-end test suites.
• Develop reusable Python libraries, utilities, fixtures and automation components.
• Implement Playwright capabilities including browser contexts, fixtures, parallel execution, tracing, screenshots and reporting.
• Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines and develop API automation using Python libraries and REST APIs.
• Create maintainable test frameworks using appropriate design patterns and coding standards.
• Improve test execution speed, reliability, coverage and maintainability.
• Work closely with developers, QA engineers, product teams and DevOps engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on Python and automation practices.
• Define overall quality and testing strategy for complex products, including risk-based testing throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify and implement opportunities for automation and reusable assets with engineers, leaders and customers.
• Track quality metrics in line with product requirements.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of software development, QA automation or test engineering experience.
• 12+ years of advanced programming experience with Python and Java.
• 3+ years of strong experience in AI tools, techniques and solutions using LLMs, RAG and AI agents.
• Strong experience compiling industry trends and bringing best practices to the organization.
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and Selenium.
• Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch and strong knowledge of UI and web application automation.
• Experience with REST API testing and automation and with PyTest or similar Python testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Git and source-control workflows and experience integrating automation with CI/CD platforms.
• Understanding of SQL and database validation and strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and containerized test execution and familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Selenium or other browser automation technologies, knowledge of performance and security testing, and experience with test reporting and quality metrics.
