Lead Software Engineer

Overview

Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate and deliver modern software solutions for the Air Traffic Business at the integration center in Pune, India, including AI-enabled capabilities, as a technical leader on an Agile team.

What you'll do

• Develop, test, debug and maintain source code, both individually and as part of a team, within an Agile environment.
• Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, data scientists, product owners and other technical stakeholders to translate requirements into working software.
• Work within Agile/Scrum environments and participate in code reviews, sprint planning and technical design discussions.
• Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high-quality software applications and services.
• Develop software using modern programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, C# or similar technologies.
• Develop automated unit, integration and system tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Use modern DevOps and CI/CD practices to automate software builds, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues and continuously improve application performance, scalability, maintainability and security.
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, reliability, security and performance.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline with relevant professional software development experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) to collaborate with team members and present reports and status.
• Professional experience developing software using one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++ or C#.
• Experience with object-oriented programming, software design principles, algorithms, data structures and source control tools such as Git.
• Experience developing or integrating APIs, web services, microservices or distributed applications.
• Experience with modern software development methodologies and the SDLC.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of cloud-based application development using AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Exposure to or experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, LLMs or AI-enabled application development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working in the aviation industry or a similar high-tech field is a plus.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience working with safety critical or high availability software.
• Experience integrating with legacy systems.
• Experience reading and understanding large existing codebases.
• Experience working in a global or multicultural environment is a plus.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications and working with cloud-based AI services.
• Experience developing software in highly secure, regulated, mission-critical or enterprise environments.
