Overview
Lead software engineering projects and create enhanced software solutions while assuring that team activities meet functional requirements, service levels, coding best practices and non-functional requirements.
What you'll do
- Champion software development projects and deliver results as a technical leader.
- Research alternative technical solutions for changing business needs.
- Assure that daily team activities meet required service levels.
- Develop and lead major projects and complex assignments with broad scope and long-term business implications.
- Develop innovative solutions that meet specific business needs.
- Partner with scrum masters and project managers to lead day-to-day software development efforts.
- Assist in day-to-day software development efforts, including programming.
- Create proof-of-concept applications.
- Collaborate with business and technical partners.
- Assist in evaluating third parties and third-party products.
- Ensure adherence to established quality control practices.
- Create and maintain technology road maps.
- Ensure adherence to the established software development process.
- Communicate effectively with management, business owners and other stakeholders.
- Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information.
- Report suspected information security violations or breaches.
- Complete periodic mandatory security training in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies.
- Good knowledge of object-oriented programming, coding and debugging.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Subversion and Git.
- Experience with ExtJS, Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL and Oracle.
- Experience with web services including SOAP, REST, XML and XSL.
- JUnit and mocking experience.
- Understanding of software design principles, patterns, algorithms, data structures and multi-threading concepts.
- Solid experience with relational databases, including the ability to write efficient SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Ability to be high-energy, detail-oriented and proactive, function under pressure in an independent environment, and demonstrate initiative and self-motivation to drive results.
- Strong verbal and written communication, relationship, collaboration and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks and tools; support multiple concurrent activities; and interface with external and internal resources as a member of a matrix-based, diverse and geographically distributed project team.
- Experience in Agile methodologies.
- IT experience in all phases of the development life cycle and in relationship building with business clients.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
- Knowledge of the Java stack, including core and advanced Java, and the ability to understand architecture and deployment topology.
Nice to have
- JUnit frameworks such as JTest or Mockito.
- SAFe Agile experience.
