Overview
Lead Software Engineer responsible for analyzing, designing, developing and delivering software solutions for the credit card authorization software development team. The role involves leading technical solutions, supporting the full systems development life cycle, improving software development processes and collaborating with contractors and employees in multiple global locations.
What you'll do
- Plan, design and develop technical solutions and alternatives to meet business requirements in adherence with Mastercard standards, processes and best practices.
- Define requirements for new applications and customization adhering to Mastercard standards, processes and best practices.
- Manage the full systems development life cycle, including requirements documents, use cases, design and other technical artifacts.
- Create detailed test strategies and test designs, performance benchmarks, release rollout and deployment plans, contingency and back-out plans, feasibility studies, cost and time analyses, and detailed estimates.
- Perform system maintenance and production incident problem management.
- Identify root causes and remediate problems.
- Participate in the on-call pager support schedule.
- Select appropriate technical frameworks and solution delivery methodology.
- Research and evaluate current and upcoming technologies and frameworks.
- Participate in Proofs of Concept and help the Department select Vendor Solutions, Technologies, Methodologies and Frameworks.
- Follow and promote Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes in the department.
- Look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
- Be recognized as an expert for specific features, components or technologies and share knowledge with others.
- Maintain high quality in a complex and constantly evolving workspace.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement activities.
- Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
- Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
- Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of software design principles, patterns, algorithms, data structures, and multi-threading concepts.
- Ability to leverage and utilize industry-standard test automation frameworks, tools and practices.
- Knowledge of continuous delivery practices.
- Ability to work across multiple operating systems such as Windows, Unix and Linux.
- Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies, including JUnit and mocking.
- Solid experience with relational databases, including ability to write efficient SQL queries and Stored Procedures.
- Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
- In-depth expertise in Java Language and its related frameworks.
- Design and Architecting experience in building Production ready scalable, reliable and Fault Tolerant systems using Microservices Architecture.
- Expertise in Event Driven Application Development.
- Experience with Configuration Management tools, such as Bitbucket, Git and Mercurial.
- Experience with Maven and Jenkins Pipeline.
- XML skills.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Creative, resourceful and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Independent learning ability with a demonstrated aptitude for acquiring knowledge and skills.

- Experience working in an agile and waterfall environment.
