Lead Software Engineer - Development (Java Full stack developer)

Overview

Lead Software Engineer responsible for developing and delivering authentication products for e-commerce transactional use cases, including ID Check, Token Authentication Service and Token Authentication Framework. The role focuses on secure, reliable and scalable customer-facing products for globally distributed platforms.

What you'll do

• Design and develop secure, reliable and scalable solutions for globally distributed customer-facing products.
• Support development teams and work with stakeholders, promoting agile development.
• Create a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Research, create and evaluate technical solution alternatives for business needs using current and upcoming technologies and frameworks.
• Write interfaces, unit or acceptance tests and architecture fitness functions.
• Work with business and product owners to architect and deliver new services that introduce new products and bundles.
• Participate and contribute to the team's agile process and decisions.
• Understand and contribute to prioritization, and drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs with product partners.
• Drive architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions and policies.
• Take ownership to improve the customer experience of services and applications sold as products or bundled services.
• Contribute to and lead initiatives by engaging and mentoring Engineers at all levels to improve software engineering craftsmanship.
• Consult across teams and organizational lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities.
• Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering staff and raising the performance bar.
• Design and implement solutions focusing on performance, scalability, availability, extensibility, supportability and usability.
• Operate with urgency, fairness and decency to address challenges and solve new opportunities.
• Navigate complex initiatives, competing priorities and customer requirements while working under pressure.
• Maintain internal and external alignment through strong communication.
• Promote and coach teams to take on full stack development and facilitate end-to-end service ownership.
• Drive trade-off discussions to set development capacity based on value drivers such as regulatory, security, new business, market parity and technical debt.
• Design and execute automation across multiple business areas and provide guidance on methods and tools.
• Articulate architecture patterns of complex systems, including business and technical implications, to executive and customer stakeholders.
• Define and drive advanced chaos and other operational testing practices to test points of failure, monitors and system behaviours under adverse conditions such as resource spikes, network congestion and component or infrastructure failure.
• Use agile and modern SDLC practices, including Scrum, Kanban, Continuous Delivery, DevOps and Quality Engineering, according to delivery situations.

What you'll need

• Hands-on experience designing solutions and developing full stack applications using modern technologies for large enterprise technology platforms and systems.
• Hands-on experience coding microservices in Java.
• Experience building UI/UX using frameworks such as React and Angular.
• Experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with RDBMS and Oracle.
• Experience with event-driven architecture.
• Working knowledge of application security aspects such as encryption/decryption, PKI, hashing, JWTs, DPoP, zero trust principles, OAuth and OIDC.
• Experience designing and implementing solutions focused on performance, scalability, availability, extensibility, supportability and usability.
• Ability to operate with urgency, fairness and decency to address challenges and solve new opportunities.
• Ability to work under pressure while navigating complex initiatives, competing priorities and customer requirements.
• Strong communication skills to maintain internal and external alignment.
• Familiarity with cutting-edge industry trends and a thorough understanding of development methodologies and standards.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying applications using CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers and Kubernetes to cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of Pivotal Cloud Foundry or another cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
