Lead Software Engineer - (Secrets Manager & AI Identity)

Overview

Lead Software Engineer for Bitwarden’s Secrets Manager & AI Identity team, focusing on designing and developing a privileged access platform.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate secure gateway controls for the PAM product line.
• Implement audited terminal login and session recording mechanics for PAM.
• Maintain service boundaries and design resilient APIs for an independent decoupled tenant.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering on technical solution design before code.
• Build and maintain automated test suites, integration harnesses, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Own production operational health, performance, and reliability telemetry and participate in on-call.
• Create and maintain architecture specifications, API contracts, and open-source documentation.

What you'll need

• 10-15 years as a Software Engineer with team lead experience.
• Strong proficiency in AI-led development in C#/.NET, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Practical experience designing or implementing secure gateway architectures and session proxying.
• Understanding of Identity and Access Management, key-rotation protocols, and real-time audit logging.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes, automated test frameworks, and SRE/observability tools.
• Familiarity with zero-trust and zero-knowledge security architectures, encryption, and threat modeling.
• Experience with written documentation and using data for technical decisions.
