Manager Engineering (ITS - Onboard Productivity Applications)

Overview

Manage engineering teams and lead delivery, sustainment, modernization, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement across onboard productivity applications. Guide product priorities, engineering decisions, stakeholder alignment, and adoption of modern and AI-enabled engineering practices.

What you'll do

• Build, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams, with emphasis on employee engagement, career development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Create an accountable, inclusive, and collaborative culture that enables employees to grow and deliver business outcomes.
• Lead engineering delivery, sustainment, modernization, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement across onboard productivity applications.
• Balance customer commitments, product investments, technical debt, and strategic priorities through effective planning, decision-making, and stakeholder alignment.
• Apply strong product and customer domain knowledge to guide priorities, decisions, and next-generation onboard productivity application initiatives.
• Champion modern engineering practices, automation, quality engineering, and DevOps to improve delivery effectiveness.
• Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering tools and practices to improve productivity, quality, and development velocity.
• Drive change management that helps teams adopt new technologies, processes, and ways of working while sustaining engagement and delivery.
• Collaborate with global product, architecture, quality, and engineering stakeholders to achieve customer and business objectives.
• Exhibit a customer-back mindset by aligning engineering priorities with customer workflows and outcomes.
• Act with urgency by driving timely decisions, removing barriers, and enabling teams to deliver value quickly.
• Think differently by encouraging innovation and applying AI-enabled and modern engineering approaches to improve outcomes.
• Use open and direct communication to build trust and alignment through transparent, constructive, and timely communication.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Relentless commitment to building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of onboard productivity applications, customer workflows, operational challenges, and business value.
• Experience leading product delivery, sustainment, modernization, and continuous improvement while balancing customer, business, and technical needs.
• Ability to influence adoption of new tools, processes, AI-enabled practices, and ways of working.
• Ability to communicate directly, build alignment, and influence stakeholders across product and engineering organizations.
• Sufficient technical depth to guide engineering decisions, provide effective leadership to engineering teams, and partner successfully with architects and technical leaders.
• Experience working in Agile and/or SAFe development environments.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting mining technology, machine applications, fleet management, autonomy, or industrial software solutions.
• Deep product and customer domain expertise gained through ownership of complex software products and solutions.
• Experience leading geographically distributed software and systems engineering teams.
• Demonstrated success driving organizational transformation, engineering excellence, and AI-enabled productivity improvements.
