Overview
Manage software engineering teams developing new capabilities for Mastercard's Decision Management Platform, a Java-based platform that supports fraud prevention and cardholder identity validation.
What you'll do
- Formally supervise, coach, and develop a work group or team.
- Manage and lead 2 scrum teams, driving best practices and culture into team ways of working.
- Conduct effective 1:1s with the team.
- Demonstrate a customer-first approach.
- Escalate risks in a timely manner, resolve conflicts, and manage stakeholders.
- Ensure teams comply with goal-setting and performance-appraisal processes.
- Set the bar and challenge the team for continuous betterment.
- Provide strategic leadership related to specific applications and systems or software-development methodologies.
- Provide coaching and guidance to Software Engineering teams.
- Oversee projects of moderate complexity or hold project accountability at the departmental or divisional level.
- Plan, develop, and execute projects to meet business needs.
- Understand systems scope and project objectives, as well as each team member's role and function, to lead the project team and ensure business needs are met.
- Communicate accurately and on time with project staff and key stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Communicate regularly with management regarding the status of specific project deliverables.
- Identify key barriers to project or department success and actively manage mitigation activities.
- Prioritize and provide input into cross-application or system enhancements, new products, processes, standards, or plans supporting the business.
- Develop solutions to moderately difficult problems.
- Provide technical support to Business Owners during implementation of new products or services.
- Determine development impacts to current processing and work with analysts and engineers to ensure enhancement accuracy.
- Document and coordinate audit controls and PCI requirements.
What you'll need
- At least 10 years of overall IT experience spanning all phases of the development lifecycle and relationship building with business clients.
- At least 1 year of people management experience.
- Hands-on experience working on Java SpringBoot-based apps and Oracle sometime in the past.
- Familiarity with building Splunk dashboards or using other monitoring tools.
- Experience engaging external IT vendors, including managing vendor selection and maintaining vendor relations.
- Broad knowledge of strategy, planning, and project-management processes and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of project-planning techniques and automated project-planning tools.
- Extensive knowledge and experience managing scrum teams and the Agile (Scrum, SAFe) process.
- Extensive knowledge of project-management processes, systems-development methods, organizational change-management concepts, and business-process improvement methods.
- Experience working with technical applications and/or information systems, or equivalent.
- Strong project-management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients.
- Strong meeting-facilitation and negotiation skills.
