Manager Software Engineering

Overview

Manage and lead large software development projects and teams for multiple customers, combining Scrum Master and Agile SAFe practice with hands-on Java/J2EE, REST API and database engineering.

What you'll do

• Manage programs and projects across multiple customers, including large project teams of 35+.
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities and communication channels, and use project management tools to track progress and facilitate collaboration.
• Act as Scrum Master and apply Agile SAFe development methodology.
• Lead requirements gathering, use case definition, and design and implementation of software solutions.
• Lead and conduct requirements and design sessions with the customer.
• Review architecture and design of complex technical solutions.
• Lead and coordinate Java, UI/UX and REST API developers, other architects and stakeholders.
• Design integration points and implement third-party systems.
• Collaborate with architecture teams to align requirements and solutions and facilitate design sign-off and approvals.
• Identify technical risks in each aspect of the service or project and ensure they are mitigated.
• Develop and promote processes, best practices and standards in software development.
• Work with peers in planning and coordinating work activities.

What you'll need

• Good experience in program or project management of multiple projects for multiple customers.
• Ability to manage large project teams of 35+.
• Excellent hands-on experience as Scrum Master and in Agile SAFe development methodology.
• Good experience in project management of product or application development.
• Excellent hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, REST API development, UI/UX development and performance engineering.
• Hands-on experience in software development process, including requirements gathering, use case definition, and design and implementation of software solutions.
• Experience in architecture and design reviews of complex technical solutions.
• Ability to lead and conduct requirements and design sessions with the customer.
• Ability to lead and coordinate with Java, UI/UX and REST API developers, other architects and stakeholders.
• Good experience in Oracle or SQL Server databases and SQL.
• Experience in developing and promoting processes, best practices and standards in software development.
• Experience in implementing third-party systems and designing integration points to other systems.
• Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure alignment of requirements and solutions and to facilitate design sign-off and approvals.
• Understanding of technical risks associated with each aspect of the service or project, and ensuring they are mitigated.
• Proven industry experience building large-scale systems with hands-on engineering skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to lead and coordinate with developers, other architects and stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
• Ability to work with peers in planning and coordination of work activities.
• Required skills: Scrum Master and Agile SAFe development methodology; REST API development; Java; Spring; REST (with maturity model level 3); basic knowledge of SOAP services, XML/JSON, AWS, MongoDB and RDBMS; GIT; JIRA; experience with tools such as Eclipse, Postman, SoapUI and Robo 3T.

Nice to have

• Web services and insurance knowledge.
• Angular, J2EE on WebSphere/JBoss, Struts, Spring, Hibernate, UNIX shell scripting, SQL on SQL Server/Oracle, JProfiler.
