Manager, Software Engineering

Overview

Manage and lead two software engineering teams within the Network Solutions group in Pune, India, splitting time between technical work (70%), management (20%) and recruiting (10%).

What you'll do

• Lead two teams across PI planning, production support, enhancements and fresh development.
• Assist teams with day-to-day work by highlighting issues they may encounter in the work they take on.
• Define infrastructure and other asks for upcoming features and coordinate with the TPM to raise exchanges.
• Work closely with PMT to identify upcoming work.
• Review code and groom the team technically.
• Identify and maintain tech debt and plan for its completion.
• Own technical backlogs.
• Create and sustain an atmosphere where teams are having fun at work.
• Be approachable and open to feedback from peers and juniors alike.
• Coordinate with the operations team to ensure apps developed are good from an operability perspective.
• Work with architects (technical and solution), challenging their designs.
• Own continuous refactoring of code and its plan.
• Arrange and provide for 24x7 support for the products and solutions developed by the team.
• Navigate uncertainties and changes in requirements while keeping team morale high.
• Engage and manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews.

What you'll need

• Solid understanding and hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful web services and Event Driven Architecture.
• Solid understanding and experience integrating as well as building scalable and performing web services.
• Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communicator, able to understand and explain complex ideas clearly, orally or in writing.
• Self-starter capable of identifying problems or areas of opportunity and implementing solutions.
• Able to motivate a team and inspire folks to do their best work.
