Manufacturing Engineer - (CNC)

Overview

Manufacturing Engineer (CNC) supporting and driving improvements in CNC machining costing and DFM workflows at the interface between builders and manufacturing partners.

What you'll do

• Review and analyze CNC machining manufacturability, costs, and lead time details from builder packages.
• Define suitable manufacturing processes, machine selections, cycle time calculations, and setup costs.
• Generate “should cost” using in-house calculators and software recommendations.
• Scrutinize manufacturing partner quotes for optimized raw material, machining, and secondary process costs.
• Negotiate with manufacturing partners on quotes to achieve best costs.
• Prepare RFQ packages referencing capability and capacity plans.
• Provide DfM feedback by reviewing 3D models/2D prints and highlighting design change recommendations.

What you'll need

• 6-8 years of relevant work experience.
• 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machine specifications/technical data and CNC programming for milling and turning.
• Experience with 5, 4, and 3-axis milling, turn milling, grinding, gear hobbing, spark and wire EDM, and gun drilling processes.
• Strong GD&T background.
• Knowledge of CNC tooling/operations including turning/rotating tools selection and insert grades.
• Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
