Overview
Support mechanical subsystem development and productivity and technology upgrades for semiconductor equipment hardware in the Customer Support Business Group's LIGHT organization, working with engineering and cross-functional teams across global regions.
What you'll do
- Contribute to mechanical subsystem development for semiconductor equipment hardware, supporting New Product Development, Continuous Improvement Programs, cost reduction, productivity enhancements, and reliability improvement initiatives under general guidance.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to understand product requirements, evaluate design options, and support project deliverables.
- Develop and refine mechanical design concepts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and coating or plating technologies.
- Perform engineering design, CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and detailed documentation in accordance with Lam, SEMI, applicable industry, and Best Known Methods standards.
- Perform design evaluations involving structural, thermal, vibration, fluid or gas flow, manufacturability, reliability, and cost considerations for moderately scoped problems.
- Develop and execute component and subsystem verification test plans, analyze characterization data, and document conclusions against defined requirements.
- Identify design risks, investigate test or build issues using structured problem-solving methods, and support corrective actions and design improvements.
- Prepare technical reports, design review material, and project updates covering design intent, analysis, test results, risks, and recommended actions.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, and release documentation through Product Development & Release and Engineering Change Management processes.
- Support pilot builds, product qualification, High-Volume Manufacturing readiness, and customer, field, or manufacturing issue resolution with global teams.
- Focus on development and support for Productivity and Technology Upgrades through Non-Standard requests for Etch product lines.
- Collaborate with global product and field support teams to address issues and meet corporate metrics and goals.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1 years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate-level mechanical engineering knowledge demonstrated through relevant academic background and professional experience.
- Ability to apply engineering principles, company policies, and defined procedures to resolve routine and moderately scoped design issues.
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools, NX preferred, 3D modeling, detailed drawings, drawing standards, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience supporting the design lifecycle from defined requirements and concepts through detail engineering, drawing release, procurement, supplier DFM interaction, assembly, test, build verification, and qualification.
- Working knowledge of mechanical components and materials, including OEM components, sheet metal, machined parts, welded assemblies, plastics, and ceramics.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and evaluate common structural, strength, thermal, flow, seismic, and tipping risks, with guidance for higher-complexity analyses.
- Working knowledge of DFMA, DFX, DFMEA, RCCA, 5-Why, and 8D problem-solving methods.
- Ability to create and release complete engineering drawings and bills of materials through an Engineering Change Management process.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization, manage assigned priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in the Semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
