Network Systems Software Engineer

Overview

Design and develop shared networking infrastructure and high-performance system software in C for routing, switching, VPN, and overlay products.

What you'll do

• Design and enhance common Layer-2 and Layer-3 networking infrastructure.
• Build shared frameworks for routing, switching, VPN, and overlay protocols.
• Develop scalable, low-latency system software primarily in C.
• Optimize data structures for packet processing, forwarding databases, and protocol state machines.
• Debug system-level, performance, memory, and concurrency issues.
• Collaborate with protocol, QA, and systems test teams across the product lifecycle.

What you'll need

• 6–10 years of networking or systems product development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics and Communication Engineering.
• Strong hands-on C programming experience, including memory management and performance tuning.
• Strong Data Structures and Algorithms knowledge, including lists, trees, hash tables, graphs, queues, and stacks.
• Understanding of networking protocols including OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, TCP, UDP, and SNMP.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of C++.
• Experience with routers, switches, or network operating system platforms.
• Hands-on experience with protocol stack implementation.

• Work primarily from an HPE office in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
• Onsite role.
