Observability Engineer

Overview

Point72 is hiring an Observability Engineer to design and operate observability capabilities that improve application health, platform performance, and incident response.

What you'll do

• Design observability capabilities for application health, platform performance, and user-impacting issues.
• Build scalable collection pipelines for metrics, logs, and traces across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Develop alerting standards that reduce noise and improve incident response signal quality.
• Partner with application and infrastructure teams to define service health indicators before production launches.
• Automate monitoring configuration, dashboard deployment, and reliability checks.
• Analyze production incidents to identify telemetry gaps and improve detection, diagnosis, and recovery.

What you'll need

• 5-17 years of experience in observability, site reliability, systems engineering, production engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Experience using an administrator such as Datadog and Python for programming.
• Practical experience designing and operating telemetry solutions for metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and dashboards.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud environments, containerized workloads, and modern application architectures.
• Proficiency with at least one scripting or programming language for automation and operational workflows.
• Experience deploying observability patterns across production environments with high availability and performance expectations.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and collaborate across global teams.
