- Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, pair programming, code reviews, troubleshooting and resolution of complex cross-system issues.
- Translate business outcomes into clear technical requirements, solution options, architecture decisions, delivery estimates and implementation plans.
- Own end-to-end solution design, including API contracts, event-driven integration, data flows, domain boundaries, resilience, performance and observability.
- Build and evolve secure, scalable AWS solutions using services such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Fargate, IAM, VPC, load balancing, storage and managed databases.
- Implement and improve CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, containerisation, deployment, monitoring and operational support practices.
- Embed security throughout the software development lifecycle, including threat modelling, secure coding, secrets management, vulnerability remediation and security controls.
- Lead technical analysis, proof-of-concepts and design reviews; challenge assumptions and make pragmatic decisions based on risk, value, cost and maintainability.
- Coach engineers in coding practices, architecture, testing and DevSecOps while maintaining accountability for delivery quality and engineering outcomes.
- Drive engineering governance, continuous delivery and technological simplification pillars such as Cloud and Payments Event based architecture.
What you'll need
- Extensive software engineering experience with recent hands-on contributions to production code.
