Principal AI Engineer, SMAI

Overview

Principal AI Engineer (SMAI) to design, develop, deploy, and support AI-powered applications for manufacturing operations across Micron sites.

What you'll do

• Build end-to-end AI solutions including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, inference, and observability.
• Develop responsive front-end applications using React, Angular, or Streamlit with Python/FastAPI services.
• Implement machine learning/AI models for structured and unstructured data and build analytics/AI for decision-making.
• Integrate LLMs and agentic AI into manufacturing and engineering workflows.
• Integrate robotics platforms, AMRs, tool automation systems, control systems, and the Micron MES ecosystem.
• Containerize applications with Docker and deploy on Kubernetes or OpenShift.

What you'll need

• 12+ years building and shipping production web or AI applications end to end.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field (equivalent industry experience accepted).
• Experience developing and deploying web applications, APIs, or data-driven solutions.
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong programming skills in Python and modern Angular/TypeScript.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and CI/CD development practices.
