Principal Data Platform Architect

Overview

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Data Platform Architect to define and deliver enterprise data capabilities and the next generation of strategic data platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead enterprise data platform strategy for onboarding, exchange, discovery, and consumption.
• Develop roadmaps balancing immediate needs with long-term scalability and reuse.
• Design frictionless, secure exchange for onboarding and managing external data.
• Create reusable patterns for integration, governance, observability, lineage, and compliance.
• Enable self-service data discovery and utilization for product teams, consultants, analysts, and AI solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering organizations and mentor teams.
• Partner with product, engineering, data governance, security, and business stakeholders to solve data challenges.

What you'll need

• Extensive experience architecting and building large-scale data platforms and enterprise integration solutions (on-premises and cloud).
• Experience leveraging technologies including Spark, Kafka, Flink, NiFi, Hadoop/Cloudera, and Databricks.
• Deep expertise in data engineering, data architecture, data integration, and cloud-native platforms.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, security, metadata, and data quality practices.
• Ability to influence technical direction across organizations.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Proficiency with data ecosystem tools such as Oracle, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, BigQuery, and Snowflake.
