Principal Functional Safety Engineer

Overview

Principal Functional Safety Engineer for Automotive semiconductor ICs, leading functional safety compliance to ISO 26262 (ASIL D) and coordinating safety activities across the full IC lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Lead end-to-end functional safety activities for Automotive ICs in compliance with ISO 26262 (ASIL D).
• Define, implement, and maintain Safety Plans, Safety Concepts, FMEDA, Safety Manuals, and Safety Cases.
• Implement SEooC and derive safety goals using Assumption of Use and ASIL decomposition strategies.
• Drive safety architecture definition for digital, analog, and mixed-signal ICs and validate safety mechanisms.
• Perform and lead FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA analyses to satisfy ASIL metrics (SPFM, LFM, PMHF).
• Conduct functional safety audits, assessments, and reviews, and serve as the safety contact for OEMs and partners.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of semiconductor development experience focused on Automotive ICs.
• Proven ability to independently lead functional safety projects through ASIL D certification.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 (Part 2–11) and related standards.
• Involvement in ASPICE Level 3 process development.
• Hands-on experience with FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA fault injection, and safety metrics analysis.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion) and safety analysis tools.
• Ability to communicate with OEMs, Tier 1s, certification bodies, and cross-functional teams.
