Engineer - Functional Safety

Overview

Engineer—Functional Safety in Eaton’s Reliability & Safety CoE team for the Mobility business.

What you'll do

• Deliver functional safety work packages (Design for Safety) for automotive electrical/electronics and hybrid system solutions across NPI programs.
• Create safety deliverables including a program safety plan, HARA, safety requirements, technical safety concept, and implementation guidance.
• Perform verification and validation outputs such as safety test case verification/validation deliverables.
• Deploy a safety assessment framework with support from senior safety professionals.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks and follow the safety sign-off process for NPIs.
• Plan milestones, execute deliverables reviews, and communicate with stakeholders, including technical mentoring.
• Create and maintain work instructions for safety processes and share best practices across product lines.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power Electronics engineering, safety, or reliability engineering.
• Bachelor’s with 3–5 years of relevant experience or Master’s with 0–1 year working in functional safety.
• Understanding of functional safety concepts and tools (e.g., preliminary hazard assessments, risk management, HARA, safety goal definition, FTA, FMECA, FMEDA).
• Working knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 26262.
• Vehicle domain knowledge and work experience in eMobility/vehicle electrification.
• Awareness of DFSS.
• Experience with an industry-proven safety analysis suite of tools.
