Principal Software Engineer

Overview

Principal Software Engineer focused on technical leadership and architecture for enterprise-scale software products and platforms within ABB’s Industrial Automation Digital organization.

What you'll do

• Lead technical direction and architecture, including engineering standards and technical reviews.
• Design scalable, secure, reliable solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
• Drive engineering excellence and delivery via hands-on work on complex components, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Guide collaboration and capability development by mentoring engineering teams and technical leaders.
• Partner with Product Management, project/architecture, cybersecurity, QA, and operations to translate requirements into technical plans.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of experience in software product development with leadership across the SDLC.
• Advanced software engineering skills across C#, .NET (Framework/Core/.NET 8+), ASP.NET, Entity Framework, LINQ, RESTful services, TypeScript/JavaScript, and SQL.
• Cloud and platform experience, particularly Microsoft Azure services.
• Solution architecture experience including microservices, Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, and API-first design.
• Hands-on DevOps practices including CI/CD, Git/GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and automated build/release.
• Experience with data/security and modern application development, including SQL Server/PostgreSQL and identity/security concepts.
