Principal Software Engineer - Java Backend, AVP

Overview

Principal Software Engineer to lead technical delivery and troubleshooting for Charles River IMS modules/components within an agile scrum environment.

What you'll do

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and debug large and complex software enhancements in Charles River business and technical domains.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex problems.
• Provide thought leadership on product architecture within and beyond team scope.
• Solve advanced technical issues by directing problem-solving for projects or major project phases.
• Write unit and automation tests, and conduct manual tests to ensure product quality.
• Troubleshoot large, mission-critical client implementations.
• Support agile execution by attending daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

What you'll need

• Minimum 13 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience.
• Minimum 6 years of experience (strongly desired) developing financial services solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR, or Wealth Management.
• At least 5 years working with an Agile development methodology.
• Strong experience building with Java and also developing programs using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript (or related languages).
• Experience with microservice architectures and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge working with Kafka and message-based systems.
• B.S. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study; MS strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Azure experience (bonus).
• Experience with Snowflake (strong asset).
• SQL experience (preferred).
