Product Design Engineer

Overview

Product Design Engineer on a specialist mobile and modular generator design team focused on diesel-powered products, producing CAD models and manufacturing drawings.

What you'll do

• Design product modifications and produce conceptual layouts and manufacturing drawings on in-house developed generator products, including CAD drawings and 3D models.
• Model conceptual layouts of complex and compact packaged mobile, modular generator arrangements (engine mounting, cooling system, fabrications, pipework, control panels, and enclosures).
• Create and maintain accurate Bill of Material and part specifications for efficient supply and assembly of Aggreko manufactured products.
• Detailed modelling of all mechanical elements of design conforming to internal and external design standards.
• Ensure accuracy of drawings and construction of the technical design file with respect to design deliverables, held within the required document management system.
• Source new components required and ensure they are suitable for the proposed applications, considering technical limitations and cost, and modify product designs accordingly.
• Provide technical support for the product during manufacture and, subsequently, during field operations.

What you'll need

• Engineering degree, preferably Mechanical.
• 5+ years of experience in resolving issues and optimizing commercial use of technologies/components.
• Thorough understanding of designing processes in complex engineering equipment development and experience in a heavy/medium engineering environment.
• Proficient in CAD systems, specifically Creo and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of engineering systems and processes (PLM, MRP, Engineering change control, international standards, component selection, NPD).
• Thorough attention to detail and high technical integrity, accepting personal responsibility for meeting cost, quality, and timescale targets.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, organize work, and prioritize to meet deadlines, along with the ability to balance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
