Product Safety Lead Engineer

Overview

Lead product safety activities for semiconductor capital equipment across the product lifecycle. Analyze system-level hazards, drive design improvements, and support compliance with safety standards and certifications.

What you'll do

• Perform system-level hazard analyses and risk assessments.
• Drive mitigation strategies and safety-related design improvements.
• Apply industry and regulatory requirements, including SEMI S2, CE Marking directives, and NFPA standards.
• Identify electrical, mechanical, chemical, and ergonomic design risks.
• Resolve safety issues from reviews, field feedback, and third-party evaluations.
• Support third-party safety assessments and certification findings closure.
• Review engineering changes, problem reports, and service procedures for safety risks.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of experience applying safety standards and hazard analysis to semiconductor capital equipment or similar complex systems.
• Experience analyzing systems and identifying hazards across electrical, mechanical, and chemical domains.
• Experience working with third-party certification bodies and closing compliance gaps.
• Knowledge of equipment and personnel safety requirements, schematics, layouts, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and service procedures.
• Knowledge of electrical, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic safety testing methods.
• Strong communication, presentation, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment safety.
• Knowledge of SEMI S1, S2, S6, S8, S10, S13, and S14 guidelines.
• Experience with CE Marking, NFPA 79, and global regulatory requirements.
• Experience identifying maintenance and service hazards.
• Experience leading cross-disciplinary safety projects to resolution.
