Project Engineer - Interior & Services

Overview

Project Engineer (Civil & Interior, commercial fit-out) in JLL's Project & Development Services team, managing civil and interior fit-out projects for commercial clients from conception through completion.

What you'll do

• Assist in managing end-to-end commercial fit-out projects including office spaces, retail outlets and corporate facilities.
• Coordinate civil and interior works including partitions, flooring, ceiling systems, HVAC integration, electrical installations and specialized interior elements.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring milestone adherence and timely delivery.
• Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality, safety compliance and adherence to specifications.
• Serve as primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams.
• Facilitate regular project review meetings and provide status updates to senior management.
• Manage client expectations through proactive communication and issue resolution.
• Coordinate with building management, local authorities and regulatory bodies for approvals and clearances.
• Review architectural drawings, technical specifications and MEP coordination drawings.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations and JLL quality standards.
• Supervise contractor performance and workmanship quality across all trades.
• Manage design changes and variations through proper change order processes.
• Oversee material procurement, quality verification and timely delivery to site.
• Assist in budget preparation and cost estimation for project components.
• Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures.
• Review and process contractor invoices and payment applications.
• Prepare regular financial reports and variance analysis.
• Guide and mentor junior team members and site supervisors.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, contractors and specialists.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in commercial fit-out project management.
• Proven track record managing projects ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 square feet.
• Comprehensive knowledge of civil and interior construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite and project collaboration platforms.
• Understanding of MEP systems integration within interior environments.
• Knowledge of Indian building codes, safety regulations and local authority procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Client-focused approach with strong relationship management skills.
• Proven leadership abilities and team collaboration experience.

Nice to have

• PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
• Experience with Grade A office buildings, corporate headquarters and retail fit-outs.
• Experience with sustainable building practices and green building standards.
• Background working with multinational corporations and consulting firms.
• Familiarity with JLL systems and processes.
