Protocol Validation Engineer (Exp 10+ Years)

Overview

Protocol Validation Engineer responsible for designing and executing protocol test coverage for Ethernet switch and NIC silicon across Layer 2/Layer 3 and advanced TSN/AVB feature sets.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and execute test plans from early bring-up through pre-production sign-off.
• Validate Layer 2 switching features including VLANs, MAC learning/forwarding, and link aggregation.
• Test Layer 3/IP forwarding and related protocol conformance and interoperability.
• Configure and operate commercial network test equipment to emulate multi-device topologies and edge cases.
• Capture, analyze, and root-cause protocol-level issues using packet analysis tools.
• Validate time synchronization and scheduling/traffic features aligned to IEEE/AVnu specifications.
• Build and maintain test automation using scripting/REST APIs and document results in Jira/Confluence.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of experience in network test, validation, or systems engineering.
• Strong networking foundation in Layer 2 Ethernet switching and Layer 3/IP fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of the AVB/TSN protocol suite (time synchronization, traffic shaping/scheduling, stream reservation, frame preemption, redundancy).
• Hands-on experience with commercial network test platforms such as Ixia/Keysight or Spirent.
• Packet-level debugging skills using Wireshark and Linux-based test environments.
• Scripting/automation experience in Python and use of REST API-driven configuration.
