QA Engineer/ Senior QA Engineer-BI

Overview

Work directly with the BI Development team to validate Business Intelligence solutions. Build test strategies, test plans and test cases for ETL and Business Intelligence components, validate SQL queries related to test cases, and produce test summary reports.

What you'll do

• Work with Business Analysts and BI Developers to translate business requirements into test cases.
• Validate data sources, extraction of data, transformation logic and loading of data into target tables.
• Design, document and execute test plans, test harnesses, test scenarios/scripts and test cases for manual, automated and bug tracking tools.

What you'll need

• Experience in Data Warehousing / BI Testing, using any ETL and Reporting Tool.
• Extensive experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries using any of the databases: Snowflake, Redshift, SQL Server or Oracle.
• Exposure to Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modelling concepts.
• Experience understanding ETL Source to Target Mapping Documents.
• Experience testing code on any ETL tools.
• Experience validating dashboards and reports on any reporting tools: Sisense, Tableau, SAP Business Objects or MicroStrategy.
• Hands-on experience and strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
• Good experience with Quality Assurance methodologies including Waterfall, V-Model, Agile and Scrum.
• Well versed in writing detailed test cases for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Experience with Black Box testing, Smoke testing, Functional testing, System Integration testing, End-to-End Testing, Regression testing and User Acceptance testing (UAT).
• Involvement in Load Testing, Performance Testing and Stress Testing.
• Expertise using TFS, JIRA or Excel for writing test cases and tracking.
• QA Engineer, BI: 2.5 years+ experience.
• Senior QA Engineer, BI: 4.5 years+ experience.
• An effective communicator with strong analytical abilities combined with skills to plan, implement and present projects.

Nice to have

• Exposure to scripting languages such as Python to create automated test scripts or automated tools such as Query Surge.
