Qa Sw Engineer

Overview

Software QA Engineer role focused on testing cloud-based networking applications and services at Extreme Networks, Chennai.

What you'll do

• Plan, develop, execute and automate test suites for cloud-based networking applications and services.
• Perform functional, integration, performance and scale, load validations.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Development, CloudOps and other teams on the above.
• Review customer deployments and customer found issues and address any gaps in the test coverage.
• Automate features from an end-to-end perspective, covering API and GUI.
• Review automation code written by other team members and give feedback.
• Perform API testing (functional, security aspects and scale/performance), REST preferred.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 3 to 12 years of experience in the Network Management/Orchestration domain.
• Excellent QA experience in most of the following areas: testing cloud-based applications; cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure; Kubernetes, Docker and clustering solutions; creating end-to-end test strategy and test planning.
• Good debugging skills in a microservices-oriented architecture based product.
• Detailed understanding of cloud technologies and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing and monitoring using tools such as JMeter, Locust etc.
• Expert in API testing, including API contract testing using mocks and API automation, with knowledge of relevant widely used tools.
• UI automation using Selenium, Robot framework and Python.
• Hands-on programming using Java, Python, ROBOT, Perl, Go or TCL/TK.
• Experience testing wired networking protocols such as VLAN, IP, STP, TCP, UDP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IS-IS and SPBM.
• Experience testing enterprise wireless and wired networks.
• Experience with security concepts and protocols such as AAA framework, 802.1X, captive portal, VPN, firewalls and SSL.
• UI test automation experience using Selenium or Playwright.
• Knowledge of virtualization and hypervisors (ESX, Hyper-V).
• Experience using network testing tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal or JMeter.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix OS.
• Applied experience with version control systems such as Git and GitHub.
• Comfortable with SQL/NoSQL/in-memory databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis or Ignite.
• Good analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience or exposure to AI, machine learning and related tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
