Quality Engineer - Shift Duty

Overview

Quality Engineer in the Quality Assurance team at Hitachi Energy's Insulation Kit Center in Halol, supplying insulation kits for large power transformer manufacturers in India and Hitachi factories in HUB APMEA.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement quality assurance strategies and plans to enhance production quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Lead the QMS and ensure the system fulfils ISO requirements, including functional and audit requirements, regular review of ISO processes, and upgrades for continuous improvement.
• Provide internal reporting on quality assurance activities, progress, and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
• Use data-driven insights to drive or contribute to decision-making and implement necessary process improvements.
• Conduct training programs and workshops to promote quality awareness and develop the skills of manufacturing personnel.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to address customer-specific quality requirements.
• Assist in analysing customer feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve product quality through manufacturing and assembly process improvements.
• Participate in developing and implementing SOPs and work instructions to mitigate process risks.
• Conduct process audits and inspections to verify compliance with process risk mitigation measures.
• Conduct risk assessments for manufacturing and assembly processes, including failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA).
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
• Take part in PPAP and supplier development activities, leading the cross-functional team through supplier onboarding in line with global Hitachi guidelines.
• Carry out incoming quality inspections, maintain relevant data and records, and support suppliers in improving their QMS, rejection rates and processes.

What you'll need

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• 6 to 8 years of experience in a quality assurance function at a large transformer manufacturing unit.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Nice to have

• Experience in transformer insulation kit manufacturing.

Details

• Location: Halol, Gujarat, India.
• Full-time, on-site role (not remote).
