Overview

Research Engineer for Anthropic’s Life Sciences team, building evaluation frameworks and training strategies at the intersection of AI and biological sciences.

What you'll do

• Develop novel evaluation frameworks for model performance in biology-related tasks.
• Create training strategies to improve AI performance on complex scientific problems.
• Develop rigorous methods to measure and improve model performance on scientific tasks.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to build AI systems for research and development workflows.
• Maintain a focus on safety and beneficial impact while building these systems.

What you'll need

• Demonstrated experience training and evaluating large language models.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with modern machine learning development practices.
• Experience building and managing data pipelines for large-scale datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity in rapidly evolving research environments.

Details

• Location: hybrid policy requiring presence in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.
