Senior AI Engineer

Overview

The Senior AI Engineer leads technical development and delivery at team and sometimes lab level, either as a line manager co-leading overall delivery with the Team PO or as an individual contributor focused on a particular technology area.

What you'll do

• Lead technical development and delivery at team and sometimes lab level.
• Act as co-lead with the Team PO for overall delivery when serving as a line manager.
• Manage overall technology delivery, line management and application ownership alongside software engineering output when serving as a line manager.
• Operate as an individual contributor focused narrowly and deeply on particular technology areas when applicable.
• Grow own capabilities through personal development opportunities.
• Develop the capabilities of direct reports within the existing development framework.
• Provide specialised training or coaching in an area of expertise to others throughout the organisation.
• Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures.
• Deliver a plan for a small element of a change management programme with guidance from a project or programme manager.
• Highlight shortcomings and suggest improvements in current IT security processes, systems and procedures within the assigned unit and/or discipline.
• Deliver prescribed outcomes for the area of responsibility using established knowledge management systems.
• Deliver outcomes by managing others and working within established systems.
• Set short-term objectives and help manage the performance of direct reports through performance management systems.
• Explore issues and/or needs to establish potential causes, related issues and barriers.
• Define, deliver and adapt specialised products/services to meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
• Deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area using risk management systems to ensure the organisation is not exposed to undue risks.
• Analyse specified problems and issues to find the best technical and/or professional solutions.
• Develop product specifications while designing testing procedures and standards.
• Deliver prescribed outcomes for the area of responsibility using established strategic planning systems.

What you'll need

• AI Engineering skills.
• Python skills.
• CI/CD skills.
• 6-12 years of experience.
