Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Join the Software Engineering team as a Senior Backend Engineer designing, developing, and owning distributed systems for Zeta’s CRM platform. The role focuses on high-throughput, performance-sensitive, redundant, and concurrent systems supporting next-generation multichannel marketing and mobile communication services.

What you'll do

• Design and develop the next generation of mobile communication services, including SMS, MMS, and RCS.
• Understand business requirements independently and cooperatively, and design and implement core components for a real-world marketing automation platform.
• Design and implement application code to satisfy product requirements.
• Ensure high product quality through rigorous code reviews and unit tests.
• Fix bugs and implement enhancements.
• Take ownership of a significant product component through design and implementation.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Product Managers to develop a roadmap and subsequent projects.

What you'll need

• At least 6 years of experience developing scalable, robust software platforms using Java, Ruby, Python, or an equivalent language.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5 - 8 years of working experience with Python, Ruby and/or J2EE technology or an equivalent object-oriented paradigm.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Kafka, Elastic Search, NoSQL databases such as Aerospike, Thrift, CI, and AWS.
• Demonstrated working experience with, and quick adoption of, AI tools and AI-based development practices.
• Experience working in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Strong object-oriented programming and design skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Strong communication skills in a large, distributed development team environment.
• Ability and desire to learn new skills and take on new tasks.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architecture.
• Extensive design and development experience.

Nice to have

• Knowledge and experience working on RCS.
• Experience working with container-based solutions.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from a university where the primary language of instruction is English.
