Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Work as a Senior Backend Engineer on server-side APIs and services for a highly distributed, high-throughput event pipeline and multi-tenant CRM platform. Design, develop, and own distributed systems components for a comprehensive, multichannel marketing solution.

What you'll do

• Understand business requirements independently and cooperatively, design, and implement core components for a real-world marketing automation platform.
• Design and implement application code to satisfy product requirements.
• Ensure high product quality through rigorous code reviews and unit tests.
• Fix bugs and implement enhancements.
• Take ownership of a significant product component in design and implementation.
• Collaborate with fellow Engineers and Product Managers to develop a roadmap and subsequent projects.

What you'll need

• At least 4 years of experience developing scalable, robust software platforms using Java/Ruby/Python or an equivalent language.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of working experience with Python, Ruby and/or J2EE technology or equivalent OO paradigm.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Kafka, Elastic Search, NoSQL databases such as Aerospike, Thrift, CI, and AWS.
• Strong object-oriented programming and design skills.
• Strong communication skills in a large-distributed development team environment.
• Experience working in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability and desire to learn new skills and take on new tasks.

Nice to have

• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field from a university where the primary language of instruction is English is strongly desired.
• Experience working with container-based solutions is a plus.
