Senior Engineer (Backend), Automation Testing

Overview

Senior backend engineer who will lead the Automation Testing area at Postman, starting with performance testing: load-testing APIs at scale. The role owns both engineering and product for the area and works directly with customers, most of whom are engineers.

What you'll do

• Own your area end to end: decide what to build and why with product, then design, build and ship it
• Work directly with customers, and turn their problems into product and technical decisions
• Own the architecture, reliability and performance of your area, and turn ambiguous goals into designs you deliver
• Make test runs fast, reliable and easy to debug, at multi million VU scale
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for quality on the team
• Represent your area with design, platform and customer-facing teams

What you'll need

• 6+ years building and shipping production software
• Experience leading an area as its technical owner, from design through delivery and quality in production
• A record of building customer-facing products, ideally for developers or other engineers
• Product judgment: you weigh what to build as well as how, and own outcomes like adoption and reliability
• Strong backend engineering in Node.js/TypeScript, Go or Java
• Experience with enterprise needs such as private networks, security reviews and access control

Nice to have

• Experience with load-testing tools such as k6, JMeter, Gatling or Locust
• Experience with API testing, developer tools or test automation

• Based in Bangalore, India
• Currently in office three days a week, transitioning to five days per week by the end of the year
