Overview
An end-to-end ownership role accountable for the business-facing thread of an automation or AI initiative, from first stakeholder conversation through post-production stabilisation.
What you'll do
- Lead structured discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, job shadowing and process walkthroughs with business SMEs to capture the true operating process, including exceptions, workarounds and undocumented tribal knowledge.
- Perform automation feasibility and complexity assessment, qualifying or disqualifying candidate processes against standardisation, rule-clarity, volume, stability and data-quality criteria, and recommend against automation where the business case does not hold.
- Build the business case: quantify AS-IS effort, volumes, FTE cost, error rates and cycle times; model expected benefit, ROI, payback period and effort estimate, and present it to client sponsors for funding approval.
- Capture process metrics and prepare the Process Qualification / Assessment output, including pipeline prioritisation where multiple candidates compete for the same delivery capacity.
- Use Process Mining and Task Mining outputs where available to validate stated process behaviour against actual system event data.
- Conduct deep-dive As-Is analysis to design optimized To-Be states, ensuring processes are architected for peak efficiency.
- Author comprehensive Process Design Documents (PDDs) and partner on Solution Design Documents (SDDs) to ensure logic clarity and traceability.
- Produce end-to-end process maps and flow diagrams (BPMN / Visio / Lucid), covering the happy path, every business exception, every system exception and the defined handling for each.
- Define and baseline functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria, business rules, data dictionaries, input/output specifications and in-scope / out-of-scope boundaries; drive formal sign-off from the process owner before build begins.
- Own the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) so every requirement is traceable through design, build, test case and production release.
- Identify and document AS-IS to TO-BE re-engineering opportunities, eliminating waste before automating.
- Contribute to pre-sales and solutioning activity, including discovery for prospects, effort estimation and proposal input, where the account requires it.
- Own deliverables including the test strategy, test scenarios, test cases, UAT pack and signed UAT closure report; exception handling and business continuity procedure; end-user training material, SOPs and user guides; support runbook, escalation matrix and knowledge-transfer pack; and post-implementation benefit realisation report.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with a dedicated focus on Intelligent Automation, RPA (e.g., UiPath), or AI-driven application engineering.
- At least 2 years in a senior or lead analyst capacity.
- Proven understanding of modern AI architectures, with the ability to design workflows that incorporate LLMs, API integrations, and unstructured data processing.
- Demonstrable expertise in authoring rigorous PDDs and collaborating on SDDs with strict traceability.
- Strong track record operating within Agile frameworks, serving as the translation layer between executive business stakeholders and technical engineering pods.
- Specific exposure to UiPath and/or Blue Prism.
- Evidence of personally carrying at least three automation or AI initiatives from discovery through production deployment and hypercare, not only the documentation phase.
Nice to have
- UiPath Certified Professional Business Analyst (UiBPA).
- Domain depth in Banking and Financial Services, particularly regulated processes with audit and control requirements.
