Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Overview

Senior Cloud Security Engineer responsible for improving cloud security across AWS and GCP. The role owns security projects end to end, from identifying problems through operating controls and measuring outcomes.

What you'll do

• Design and automate security controls for AWS and GCP infrastructure.
• Maintain and scale cloud security and vulnerability management tooling.
• Investigate and remediate cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities.
• Build access controls for cloud and Kubernetes environments using zero-trust principles.
• Develop cloud infrastructure detections with incident response teams.
• Embed security guardrails into CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
• Lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, code reviews, and cross-functional security projects.

What you'll need

• 5–7+ years of experience in cloud security or security-focused infrastructure/DevOps engineering.
• Hands-on experience securing containerized environments and Kubernetes.
• Strong AWS knowledge and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Programming or scripting proficiency, such as Python, for automation.
• Experience with cloud security posture management or similar tooling.
• Ability to own problems end to end and communicate clearly across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience across AWS and GCP.
• Experience integrating security into CI/CD and DevOps/GitOps workflows.
• Hands-on threat modeling and security architecture review experience.
• Experience translating compliance requirements into technical controls.
• Security community, open-source, or security research contributions.
• Relevant security certifications such as CKS.

• Remote in the United States.
• Base compensation: $161,000–$185,000 USD yearly.
