Senior Data Consultant

Overview

Morningstar seeks a (Senior) Data Consultant / Data Relationship Manager to champion Morningstar's managed investment data capabilities in India, representing its data offering to clients and industry groups and feeding the local market's voice back to global and central teams.

What you'll do

• Manage relationships with Indian fund companies and third-party administrators.
• Visit fund companies and providers to set up acquisition channels, and act as the point of escalation when such channels are failing.
• Act as the data expert on investment data points, processes, methodologies, calculations and different fund structures.
• Promote Morningstar data at a local level to internal and external clients.
• Produce materials to assist in retaining and obtaining business.
• Partner with sales, product and support teams on the prospect discovery process and lead generation, and serve as the subject matter expert to address data inquiries.
• Collaborate with members of the Global Data teams to align priorities based upon local business requirements.
• Conduct business analysis and manage projects focused on enhancing the database to meet changes in the industry and client needs.
• Bring back the voice of the client for data or process enhancement.
• Monitor competitor behavior, trends and services so Morningstar is well placed to act on opportunities.
• Monitor local asset management industry trends and regulatory movements, and translate them into implications for Morningstar's data business.

What you'll need

• Strong interest in the investment world, strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience, with demonstrated ability to foster successful external relationships with asset managers, regulators and third-party data providers.
• Solid understanding of the Indian investment management industry and a passion for investment data.
• Expertise in Morningstar managed investment data, methodology, processes and quality.
• Ability to demonstrate a client-centric approach.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong learning ability and interest in learning the complex structure of numerous investment vehicles.
• Self-motivated, independent, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or equivalent.
• Excellent capabilities with MS Office and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in Portfolio Management Services (PMS), Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) and a relationship management role.
• Prior experience with Morningstar products and services.

• Location: Mumbai, India.
• Reports to the Data Director, Managed Investment Data - Asia Pacific.
• Hybrid work model: four days in-office each week in most locations.
