Senior Data Engineer

Overview

Senior Data Engineer / ETL developer on the Enterprise Data Solutions team, developing data engineering solutions in the data and analytics domain. The role focuses on improving access to data warehouse assets, enforcing data standards and principles, and delivering secure, scalable data pipelines.

What you'll do

• Develop high quality, secure and scalable data pipelines using tools like DMExpress.
• Leverage new technologies and approaches to innovate with increasingly large data sets.
• Drive automation and efficiency in data ingestion, data movement and data access workflows through innovation and collaboration.
• Understand, implement and enforce software development standards and engineering principles around ETL.
• Contribute ideas to help ensure that required standards and processes are in place.
• Look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
• Perform assigned tasks and production incident work independently.
• Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
• Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
• Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
• Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of experience in data warehouse-related projects in a product- or service-based organization.
• Experience with cloud technology stacks, big data and Databricks.
• Extensive experience with Spark and Airflow.
• Strong analytical skills for debugging production issues, providing root cause and implementing a mitigation plan.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask across multiple projects and interface with external and internal resources.
• Ability to be high-energy, detail-oriented and proactive, and to function under pressure in an independent environment.
• A high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results.
• Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, and perform proofs of concept to explore the best solution for the problem statement.
• Flexibility to work as a member of matrix-based, diverse and geographically distributed project teams.
