Senior Data Scientist - Safety Analytics & Signal Detection

Overview

Senior Data Scientist for Safety Analytics & Signal Detection in Global Patient Safety, applying advanced statistics and data science to support pharmacovigilance and safety signal detection decisions.

What you'll do

• Provide data science and statistical support for safety surveillance, signal detection, and signal assessment.
• Partner with TA Safety and Integrated Signal Management to develop and execute analytical approaches for safety questions and post-marketing surveillance.
• Apply frequentist, Bayesian, temporal, and other statistical methods used in pharmacovigilance.
• Analyze internal safety data, spontaneous reporting data, and real-world data to generate actionable insights.
• Develop reproducible analytical workflows using programming, automation, and visualization technologies.
• Evaluate and apply advanced analytics, machine learning, NLP, and AI-enabled approaches for safety surveillance.
• Communicate analytical methods, findings, limitations, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.

What you'll need

• Strong background in statistics and complex statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in one or more analytical programming languages: Python, R, SQL, or SAS.
• Working knowledge of machine learning and emerging AI methods.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead/influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Doctorate degree plus 2 years, or Master’s plus 6 years, or Bachelor’s plus 8 years, or Associate’s plus 10 years of relevant quantitative experience.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of applied data science/statistics/analytics in a regulated healthcare environment.
