Senior Database Engineer position focused on Microsoft SQL Server database development, performance optimization, troubleshooting, governance, and reliability.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex SQL Server stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and other database objects.
- Write and optimize efficient SQL for performance, scalability, and accuracy.
- Analyze query execution plans and optimize joins, indexing strategies, statistics, aggregations, and data-access patterns.
- Monitor database performance metrics (CPU, memory, I/O, locking/blocking, waits, throughput, storage utilization).
- Lead technical troubleshooting during critical incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Partner with DBA and monitoring teams to implement alerts, health checks, diagnostic logging, and proactive monitoring.
What you'll need
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering, database development, performance tuning, or database administration.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Expert-level SQL skills with experience writing and optimizing complex stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and queries.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts including transactions, indexing, statistics, and execution plans.
- Experience monitoring and analyzing performance metrics such as CPU, memory, storage I/O, waits, and connection management.
- Experience implementing database monitoring, alerting, health checks, automated maintenance, and preventive controls.
