Senior Database Engineer

Overview

Senior Database Engineer responsible for the performance, reliability, security, and scalability of PostgreSQL databases supporting a SaaS platform. The role partners with engineering, DevOps, and product teams on data architecture and incident resolution.

What you'll do

• Tune, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases.
• Design scalable database schemas and data ingest strategies.
• Lead root cause analysis and cross-functional resolution during major incidents.
• Implement row-level security and data encryption.
• Architect backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Automate routine database operations and improve reliability.
• Review database code and mentor engineers on data-layer best practices.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of hands-on Database Administrator experience.
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Ability to write, debug, and optimize complex database queries and code.
• Strong experience with cloud database solutions and infrastructure.
• Understanding of engine tuning, partitioning, and physical schema design.
• Ability to communicate clearly and solve complex problems under pressure.
• Comfort participating in on-call rotations and handling urgent production incidents.

Nice to have

• Experience with data modeling, master data management, or data dictionaries.
• Experience with SaaS products in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with software development practices and workflows.
• Knowledge of security and privacy compliance frameworks.

Details

• Hybrid role based in Ahmedabad.
• Expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week.
