Senior Devops Engineer

Overview

Senior DevOps Expert Engineer (Automation) within the CARIAD Business Unit India, supporting automotive software development with Bazel build pipelines, CI/CD automation and Django-based backend tooling.

What you'll do

• Design Bazel build pipelines for complex automotive architectures, including custom cross-compilation toolchains for automotive SoCs (ARM, TriCore) and hardware targets.
• Optimize remote caching and execution within ISO 26262 functional safety-compliant CI/CD environments.
• Integrate automotive software development toolchains (Codebeamer, Git, jFrog Artifactory, MBD MATLAB Simulink, Embedded C, MXAM, GoogleTest, TPT, static analysis such as Astrée, compiler toolchains, HiL testing) into Bazel target rules for automated ECU validation.
• Develop and manage Bazel build rules and configurations.
• Integrate static code analysis (Astrée) and model checks (MXAM) into the toolchain.
• Set up and integrate test tools such as GoogleTest and TPT.
• Support requirements management with tools such as Codebeamer.
• Configure code generation from Simulink models using Embedded Coder.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including testing and deployment automation, and implement security best practices such as secrets management.
• Manage GitHub Actions workflows, including reusable workflows, GitHub-hosted runners and self-hosted runners.
• Build and maintain scalable Django applications, including models, serializers, views, forms and third-party integrations.
• Write efficient, maintainable and testable Python code, including REST API development and asynchronous task handling.
• Create and manage dashboards in tools such as Grafana.
• Set up monitoring and logging for Docker containers.
• Debug issues in CI/CD pipelines, databases and Django applications.
• Administer and migrate JFrog Artifactory.
• Write clear and concise documentation for workflows, applications and databases.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience.
• Expert experience designing Bazel build pipelines for complex automotive architectures.
• Deep expertise configuring custom Bazel cross-compilation toolchains for diverse automotive SoCs and hardware targets.
• Proven track record optimizing remote caching and execution within ISO 26262 functional safety-compliant CI/CD environments.
• Expert integration of automotive SW development toolchains into Bazel target rules for automated ECU validation.
• Proficiency in Python, including REST API development and integration (e.g., Django REST Framework) and asynchronous tasks (e.g., Celery or similar).
• DevOps experience: CI/CD pipeline creation, testing and deployment automation; security best practices in CI/CD; version control branching strategies (e.g., Git Flow, trunk-based development); merge conflict resolution and code review practices.
• GitHub Actions experience: creating, managing and optimizing workflows; reusable workflows and GitHub-hosted runners; self-hosted runners and their integration into workflows.
• Experience with Django: scalable applications, models, serializers, views and forms, third-party integrations, relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar), query optimization, Django ORM and its advanced features.
• Debugging skills across CI/CD pipelines, databases and Django applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices such as Jenkins, Git and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python for automating migration tasks.
• Familiarity with SQL database technologies.
• Strong experience in JFrog Artifactory administration and migration.
• Familiarity with virtual machines.
• Ability to read, understand and use APIs.
• Experience with embedded development toolchains (compiler, debugger) and SWC (Software Component) architecture, with a complete software engineering mindset.
• Excellent problem-solving ability with solid communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
